In recent years, Pankaj Tripathi has become one of the most promising actors. Tripathi has not only made a name for itself in web space in films and has merged the two media. He will soon be starring in Satish Kaushik’s Kaagaz, which premieres on ZEE5 on January 7th.
Tripathi’s credible performances have often reminded audiences that it’s not the length of the role, but how it is performed that makes a lasting impression.
In terms of his credible accomplishments, here are five characters from Pankaj Tripathi who deserve their own spin-offs.
1. Gangs of Wasseypurs Sultan
Before Gangs of Wasseypur was released, Pankaj Tripathi had appeared in a few commercials, TV shows, and films. However, it was his role as Sultan directed by Anurag Kashyap that put him in the spotlight. Sultan Qureshi is the head of the Qureshi clan as they fight Sardar Khan to increase their dominance over Wasseypur. Sultan is the one who ultimately kills Sardar Khan, making him an important character in the larger scheme of the story. Although we’ve seen Sultan in this film for decades, a story about his life as a butcher would add an interesting side effect.
2. Strees Rudra
Even though Pankaj Tripathi made a cameo in the film, he walked away with all the fame. Tripathis Rudra is the only one who knows about Stree’s backstory, and he tells it in a great comedic way. It would be fun to see his character as the protagonist in the sequel. His relationship with the invisible ‘Shama’ was one of the highlights of Stree and can be explored in more detail in the sequel.
3. Masaan’s Sadhya
Sadhya is another memorable character played by Pankaj Tripathi. Sadhya meets Richa Chadhas Devi as they work side by side at the train station. We learn about Sadhya’s life in a scene where he shares his dessert with Devi and talks to his father about his simple life at home. A life story about the mundane yet relatable life of Sadhya would make for an interesting watch.
4. Anaarkali from Aarah’s Rangeela
In Anaarkali von Aarah, Pankaj Tripathi plays Rangeela, Anaarkali’s always supportive confidante who wants to protect her from the evils of society. While Anaarkali of Aarah was following Anaarkali’s journey, it would be interesting to learn more about Rangeela’s journey in a spin-off.
5. Nil Battey Sannatas Principal Srivastava
This was the first role in which the audience could see the comical side of Pankaj Tripathi. In Nil Battey Sannata, Tripathi plays a strict math teacher who is perceived as weird in his many scenes at the school where he teaches Swaras Chanda. A comedy series centered around the Srivastava run school would be really entertaining.
