The war over the streaming platform is raging now. If Netflix leads the dance with more than 200 million subscribers, the competition isn’t far behind. This is particularly the case with Disney +, which is doing much better than originally expected, but also with Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, or even Apple TV. Therefore, to stay competitive, sometimes you shouldn’t hesitate to spend substantial sums of money. Netflix recently illustrated this with the very expensive purchase of episodes 2 and 3 of the “Knives Out” saga starring Daniel Craig. Until repetita this weekend according to the website BillBoard. Netflix would have spent $ 30 million this time to acquire the rights to broadcast a documentary about Kanye West.
Kanye West, new Netflix star?
There has been a lot of talk about the American rapper in recent years. He particularly exuberantly caressed the idea of entering politics for the US presidential election. He is currently in the middle of a divorce from Kim Kardashian. However, it is not from its rich timeliness that this documentary should speak. It is indeed a long term project about the life of Kanye West.
This documentary series, which does not yet have a title (or release date), will consist of multiple episodes and aims to trace the entire career of Kanye West. We should therefore talk about music, fashion, but also about his vague political ambitions and thus about his personal life. It’s not yet clear whether his bipolar disorder and divorce will be addressed. If Kanye West is a very exposed figure in the media, this documentary series should offer unprecedented images of the 43 year old man’s life. These are the videographers Clarence Simmons and Chike Ozah who are behind this project. He had produced a music video for him in 2004 and more recently a documentary about former basketball player Stephon Marbury.
