Bollywood power couple Ajay Devgn and Kajol celebrate their 22nd wedding anniversary on Wednesday. The couple married on February 24, 1999. To make the day special, the Singham actor shared a picture of a bespoke wine bottle. It says “Bottled in 1999”.
Kajol and Ajay met on the set of the movie Hulchul in 1995. The two did not become friends at the time. In fact, Kajol thought Ajay was funny. On Karan Johar’s talk show Koffee With Karan, the Tribhanga actress shared her first impression of Ajay: “Who is this guy? What kind of personality does he have? He sits in a corner and smokes like a chimney and doesn’t even speak to anyone. “But eventually Kajol’s impression of Ajay changed and the two became close friends. Kajol even took Ajay’s advice about her love life.
Two years later, on the set of their film Gundaraj, the couple started dating. After four years of advertising, the couple decided to tie the knot, and since the Singham actor is media shy, he opted for an intimate wedding ceremony on the terrace of his home. He even misled socialmediagossips about his wedding venue. They took the marriage vows in a traditional Maharshtrian style, away from media attention.
Kajol believes Ajay made her “calmer”. During one of her interviews with PTI she had said: “I became much calmer … it brought a lot of stability into my life … we are different socialmediagossips, but we believe in the same things.” She added, “It is necessary to love someone, but it is also necessary to respect them. I respect him a lot and that’s one of the reasons our relationship has lasted until now. “

Commenting on the secret of their successful marriage, Kajol said, “You have to work on every relationship every day, including marriage. You can’t just work or do occasional things like celebrating an anniversary or Diwali etc. You have to put in time and effort. “
The couple, last seen together in Om Raut’s historical drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, are parents to son Yug and daughter Nysa.
