Alienware’s newly updated M15 R4 and m17 R4 gaming laptops will swap out their existing GPUs for shiny new Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 GPUs – and likely much faster this year, the company announced at CES 2021.
While much of the design of the m15 R4 and m17 R4 has been carried over from previous versions of the R3 in terms of ports, weight, and size, the most important upgrade for gamers is in the graphics.
Alienware m15 R4
The 15.6-inch Alienware m15 R4 still weighs around 4.65 to 5.5 pounds (depending on the option) and has up to 32 GB of RAM. Alienware also offers 300 Hz 1080p and 4K OLED display options. Laptops are still available in the colors Lunar Light (white) or Dark Side of the Moon (black).
But the graphics are now managed by “New Generation Nvidia Graphics”. Alienware did not specify which specific GPUs are being offered due to Nvidia’s information lockout when we wrote this, but based on the laptop’s 240 watt power adapter, we believe it could be.
