When India launched the world’s largest coronavirus vaccination campaign over the weekend, megastar Amitabh Bachchan was hoping the country would become COVID-19 free.
The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) earlier this month approved the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine, Covidshield, made by the Serum Institute, and developed Covaxin by Bharat Biotech for limited emergency use in the country, paving the way for massive vaccination.
The 78-year-old actor said on Sunday that socialmediagossips in India would be removing coronavirus like polio from the country.
“It was a proud moment when we rid India of polio. It will be just as proud when we make India COVID-19 free.

The Gulabo Sitabo star faced the UNICEF campaign until the country became polio-free in 2014.
Bachchan was also hired by the central government to use a caller melody to alert socialmediagossips to preventive measures to fight COVID-19.
The actor, who tested positive for the virus last July and recovered in over two weeks, has been actively promoting the coronavirus on social media since the pandemic.
Bachchan has also endorsed and promoted campaigns related to Tuberculosis Free India, Childhood Vaccinations, and Clean India.
