At the beginning of the year there are rumors about the next high-end Android smartphones that will compete with the iPhone 12 and its variants. Xiaomi has already introduced the Mi 11, and Samsung has just introduced the Galaxy S21 along with the variants of this model.
However, we are still waiting for flagships from other brands such as Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Huawei. The latter suffered from a tightening of US sanctions in 2020, leading to difficulties in sourcing components for smartphones. In fact, non-American companies that use American technologies must apply for approval in order to continue supplying Huawei.
Huawei P50 and P50 Pro would be good on the line
Despite these difficulties, Huawei plans to continue releasing new high-end smartphones in 2021. Rumors are already circulating about the Huawei P50 Pro, which will replace the P40 Pro launched in 2020.
For example, in an article published a few days ago, the Gizchina website forwarded a Chinese blogger who, thanks to internal tests, claimed to have information about the Huawei P50 and P50 Pro.
According to the post, the Huawei P50 would have a 90 Hz screen while the P50 Pro would have a 120 Hz screen. Otherwise, the Gizchina source would also have stated that the quality of these screens should not be lower. of the Mi 11 from Xiaomi. And on the design side, the P50 and P50 Pro should still have bubbles on the screen for the front camera.
Premium models with Kirin processors?
Otherwise, the P50 and P50 Pro should use the Kirin 9000 and Kirin 9000 chips in the processor.e. As a reminder: Due to the American sanctions, Huawei can no longer place new orders for Kirin chips from its suppliers. Still, it is possible that the manufacturer may still have a large inventory in 2020 before the new US sanctions take effect.
P50 series secondary cameras would have a combination of sensors very close to that of the Mate 40 series introduced in late 2020. With the P50 series, however, Huawei would have developed a x200 zoom for the new generation.
With fast charging, the P50 would have fast charging at 66W wired and wireless charging at 50W. With the P50 Pro, it could benefit from fast charging at 135W.
In 2020, Huawei parted with its Honor brand. And in 2021, the manufacturer should focus more on premium models
But at the moment all this information is of course still unofficial and therefore caution is still required. On the other hand, we don’t currently know when Huawei could introduce its new premium smartphones for 2021.
In any case, this year will see a significant change in strategy in the smartphone market for Huawei. In fact, due to American sanctions, the manufacturer has decided to focus on its premium devices.
In 2020, Huawei parted with its Honor brand, which specializes in mid-range smartphones. While Huawei will focus on premium smartphones, Honor may face exemption from US sanctions that will allow it to move forward as the brand becomes completely independent from Huawei.
