Apple’s compact iPhone SE line of products is very popular in many parts of the world. The smaller iPhones offer a compact experience with a smaller, almost age-old screen with a large bezel, wrapped in a case that only offers the functions you need. After the iPhone SE 2020, the second version of the phone, Apple is slated to make the third phone in the series in 2022.
The new iPhone SE, which could be referred to as the iPhone SE 3 or iPhone SE 2022, could continue with the small-case and small-screen formula. A recent tweet from Ross Young, lead analyst at DisplaySearch and DSCC, suggests rebooting the new iPhone SE with a 4.7-inch screen. With a screen this small, we might as well abandon hope for a high refresh rate implementation
Young also shares that Apple could potentially launch another phone with a 6.1-inch screen in 2023, which, for the first time in Apple’s history, could feature a hole-hole display rather than a notch. Check out the tweet here.
Apple LCD iPhone leak, we are now hearing that the next LCD iPhone SE will stay at 4.7 “in 2022. Some rumors that it could also have 5G with sub-6 GHz. I also heard of a 6.1- Inch version in 2023 with a hole and not a notch.

Young returns to the rumored iPhone SE 3, announcing that the 4.7-inch display phone could offer 5G support as well. However, according to the tip, this is only 5G under 6 GHz and not mmWave, which will likely still be limited to the best iPhone variants of the year. Like the iPhone SE 2020, the next SE could come with the same Apple A14 Bionic chipset that we saw on the iPhone 12 series.
No home button
According to some recently leaked concept renders from the Slovak blog Svetapple.sk, Despite the small screen, the new Apple iPhone SE could also have an all-display housing design without a home button on the bottom. That implementation could mean Apple can slide the Touch ID fingerprint scanner to the power button like it did on its most recent iPad Air.
What’s even more interesting is that the renderers on the new iPhone SE 3 don’t show a notch. Instead, we see a centrally aligned hole notch in which the front camera is located. Note, however, that these renders are unofficial and in no way guarantee the design we were able to see on the final iPhone SE 3.
