Asus ROG, the gaming division of the Taiwan-based tech giant, will launch the ROG Phone 5 worldwide and in India on March 10th. The gaming phone will replace the Asus ROG Phone 3, which was one of the best gaming phones of 2020.
ROG has also announced that in addition to the smartphone and gaming headsets, the brand will also be launching new gaming accessories that will likely complement the ROG Cetra range that we saw last year. The launch in India begins on March 10th at 4:15 p.m.
Asus ROG Phone 5: Expected Specifications
Due to various leaks that have occurred so far, the Asus ROG Phone 5 is expected to have a 6.78-inch display. This is likely a high refresh rate support AMOLED display and high touch sensing which are key elements for gaming phones.
The ROG Phone 5 will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. As with the ROG Phone 3, we were able to see multiple storage variants that could hit up to 16GB of RAM according to a Geekbench list. We’ll likely see the top line variant of the phone with 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage as well.
In terms of camera optics, the phone is expected to have a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 64MP main sensor and two additional sensors. A recent leak from DxOmark also suggested that the phone have a front-facing stereo speaker.
The Asus ROG Phone 5 is expected to have some classic ROG Phone design cues like the AirTrigger buttons, two USB Type-C charging ports, and a futuristic asymmetrical design, as well as new rumors like a customizable key and a new LED setup on the back of the phone that could replace the ROG logo for RGB lighting.
Asus could also launch new gaming accessories alongside the phone. However, if the brand claims of last year are to be believed, the ROG Phone 5 accessory is also backwards compatible with the 2020 ROG Phone 3.
