Hollywood star Ben Affleck will direct the upcoming adaptation of the bestselling book series Keeper of the Lost Cities for Disney.
The actor and filmmaker will also produce the live-action project through his Pearl Street banner, Deadline reported. He is currently working on the script with writer Kate Gritmon.
Keeper of the Lost Cities, written by Shannon Messenger, follows a telepathic girl who must figure out why she is the key to her brand new world before the wrong person can first find the answer.
“When 12-year-old Sophie finally finds out where her secret telepathic ability comes from, she learns that she is actually not a person, but from another world that exists side by side with ours,” says the official story. Madison Ainley will serve as executive producer.
This is not the first time that Affleck has tackled a book adaptation. His previous directing – The Town, Argo, and Live By Night – were all based on novels.
On the acting front, the actor will be the next star in Deep Water alongside Ana de Armas and Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel with Matt Damon and Adam Driver. He will also repeat his role as Batman in the DC movie The Flash.
