In Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, Carmelo Anthony made history by becoming the NBA’s 10th all-time top scorer.
While the Blazer’s 4-game winning streak was disrupted, Carmelo still gave a heartwarming speech after the game highlighting his journey through the NBA and his place in the history books.
“I wasn’t in the league … I persevered. I stayed strong. I’ve stayed true to myself and now I’m in the top 10 here. “
36-year-old Anthony is perhaps one of the most underrated stars of the modern age. As a 10x All-Star, 6x All-NBA player and 23 points per game, he’s one of the best offensive players the league has seen in a while.
Whether in the post, with his signature jab step or outside of dribbling, he can score in countless ways and still proves that he can keep up with the best.
The only question is, what can Melo do with the remaining time? Despite the critics, Melo has proven he’s an asset to this league, and whether for the Blazers or any other team, we’ll likely see him do his thing for at least the next few years.
Of course, I’m not speaking alone when I say I’m looking forward to seeing this epic chapter in his basketball career.
