Sony launched its SRS-RA3000 premium smart speaker in India for Rs.19,999. The premium smart speaker was first introduced at CES 2021. The speaker has WiFi support, built-in Chromecast and the ability to connect to Google Home or the Amazon Alexa apps.
Sony SRS-RA3000 features
According to Sony, the new RA3000 has 360-degree reality audio and room-filling ambient sound. With 360-degree reality audio, the speaker broadcasts background music both horizontally (from wall to wall) and vertically (from floor to ceiling), according to the company.
Sony claims that it offers the best “room filling experience” because the speaker contains three-dimensional sound location data that it can use to analyze the location data within the speaker and optimally map the sound to the speaker structure.
In addition, Sony calls are delivered as “room-filling ambient sound” to ensure the best experience regardless of the room the speaker is in. According to Sony, the speaker has Immersive Audio Enhancement (IAE), which is based on its own algorithm, to create this room-filling ambient sound.
The range of smart speakers offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for streaming music, podcasts, etc. It is also compatible with the Spotify Connect app and has a built-in Chromecast. With Chromecast support, users can stream music, online radio and podcasts from their phone, tablet to the device by simply tapping the appropriate cast button.
Users can also add the device to the speaker group in Google Home or the Amazon Alexa app. The equalizer can be optimized via the Sony Music Center app.
The company says the speaker is able to adjust sound levels based on the track so that the sound doesn’t get too loud or too quiet. It is moisture resistant and can be used in the kitchen or bathroom.
At the top are physical buttons including volume up / down, play / pause, bluetooth, music and others. It has a black cloth-like material with bronze on the sides. It can also wirelessly connect to compatible Sony Bravia TVs and act as an external speaker. It connects to a smartphone, laptop, etc. via a 3.5mm audio jack.
It has a total of two speakers and three tweeters. The speaker weighs a total of 2.5 kg, just like the Apple HomePod. The speaker will go on sale in Sony retail stores, ShopatSC.com, Amazon and other stores starting February 24. For 19,999 rupees, the SRS-RA3000 competes against Apple HomePod, Amazon Echo Studio and others in this price segment.
