The upcoming Disney movie Cruella offers a reinterpretation of the genesis of Cruella de Vil, the main antagonist of the 101 Dalmatians Franchise. The trailer for the film was recently discontinued, leading to a number of comparisons with the trailer for Warner Bros. Batman Super villain Joker originated in the 2019s joker. Now comedian Matthew Highton has combined the two trailers, and it’s a bit creepy how well they go together. Highton posted the combo trailer on Twitter with the following message.
It turns out that you put the sound of the Joker trailer on top of the Cruella trailer, which fits so well that you get a prequel about Joker’s mother. pic.twitter.com/C70lHoHQvd

“It turns out when you overlay the sound from joker Trailer for the Cruella that fits so well that you get a prequel about Joker’s mother. “
The edited video proves that Cruella could just as well be the genesis of Cruella, as played by Emma Stone, mother of Arthur Fleck aka Joker, who, like her son, suffered from a nervous breakdown due to her encounters with high society and caused her transformation into the crazy Cruella de Vil.
This is where the comparisons end, however, since Arthur’s mother was in joker was a sick secretary who died in poverty while Cruella became a wealthy tycoon who dreamed of making a coat out of the skin of Dalmatian puppies before being rather viciously defeated by the same puppies.
You can’t help but guess that the makers of Cruella were more than a little inspired by the success of jokerboth critical and commercial. It is interesting to consider how Cruella basically looks for something to do for his main character joker did for the clown Prince of Crime, that is, reinventing the backstory for a thoroughly villain to show that their descent into evil was triggered by social factors rather than being inherently evil.
The biggest difference between the two films is of course this joker was an R-rated film that took full advantage of its rating to depict gruesome acts of violence. On the other hand, Cruella is a Disney product, so all of the violence that goes on in the movie will be kid-friendly.
One thing we do know is that Cruella is not going to the main villain this time around. Instead, this role is played by Emma Thompson, whose character is in Cruella has been described as “an antagonist of Cruella who is vital to her transformation into the villain we know today”.
The Cruella trailer has already achieved impressive numbers with more than 71 million views in less than twenty-four hours. It seems that the audience is really invested in the journey of the cackling madmen out 101 Dalmatiansthat doesn’t seem to be cackling or crazy in the expert hands of Stone, but rather a grinning mastermind who deals with all kinds of hi-jinks in his search for an icon in the world of high fashion. Directed by Craig Gillespie, Cruella Stars like Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser, Joel Fry and Emily Beecham. The film will hit theaters on May 28th.
