For several years and the establishment of Playstation plus as well as Playing with gold On Xbox, we have all faced the situation that a game we recently purchased is being offered for PS4 / PS5 or Xbox One / Xbox Series X and Series S.
A delicate and disappointing situation as it could have saved us a few valuable dollars or instead allowed us to buy another game. It looks like all of this will soon be history on PlayStation 5. Several players have received an email from Sony Interactive Entertainment telling them that their recent purchases will soon be refunded.
PS Plus games on PS5 reimbursed?
So it goes on Reddit that several players shared their experiences and the email received from Sony Interactive Entertainment. A few days ago, the new games were announced, which will be offered on PlayStation Plus in January 2021. If you’re a PS Plus subscriber, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, GreedFall, and the PS5 version of Maneater are now free to download.
Maneater has been available for PS4, Xbox One and PC since May 2020 and has had a next-generation version since the PS5 launched last November. Obviously, Sony intends to refund those players who have fallen in love with the game recently. A user shares the email received from Sony without requesting a refund.
Based on your PlayStation Plus membership status, we will refund the purchase price for this product to your PlayStation Store wallet as it is one of the PlayStation Plus monthly games. It won’t affect your ability to play the game as we haven’t removed it from your library.
We don’t currently have enough information to know how Sony will proceed with the refunds. We know that some users bought the game when it launched on PS5 in November, others in December. It is certain that Sony will not reimburse all games, only purchases that will be a month or two old. For now, we also don’t know if this applies to US players only or all PS5 users.
Another question arises as to whether the refund will invalidate the purchase of the game. Will the player without a PS Plus subscription still have access to their “normal” version of the game? Important questions that will hopefully be answered in the coming days.
