Ewan McGregor has started his next project. The war of stars Actor will lead the cast of Everest, a new film about conquering the legendary Mount Everest with an all-star cast. Director Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, The Bourne Identity) is on board to guide. The film is due to hit the market next week in Cannes and is likely to meet with great interest.
Everest will be inspired by the novel Paths of Glory by author Jeffrey Archer. HanWay Films will distribute the film and filming is scheduled to begin in January 2022. It will be set in 1921 when Mount Everest was one of the last remaining parts of the world to be conquered by humans. It is not the real story of the climbers who conquered the mountain. Rather, it will be a made up story. Mark strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Shazam) and Sam Heughan (Foreigners, The spy who dumped me) are also set to asterisk.
The film turns around Ewan McGregor who plays a man named Mallory who was handpicked by the chief of the Royal Geographic Society (Mark Strong). Mallory is supposed to climb Mount Everest after the First World War. He will be forced to face an Australian rival, George Finch (Sam Heughan). It becomes a battle to see who reaches the summit first. Jennifer Klein will produce alongside Doug Liman. Klein had this to say in a statement.
