New photos were revealed from the sets of Thor: love and thunderwhich is currently being filmed in Australia. Photos from the set show a huge landscape with artificial sand dunes. While the set may have too many clues as to its purpose, those who are familiar with it are Thor Comics believe the land is supposed to represent the home planet of Gorr, the God Butcher, the movie’s main villain, slated to be played by Christian Bale.

In the comics, Gorr the God Butcher belonged to an unnamed alien desert planet where resources were scarce, and socialmediagossips lived a miserable existence for a living and prayed to the gods to end their suffering. After his entire family died, Gorr denounced the gods for not helping them. As a result, he is labeled an outcast and expelled from society.
Gorr walks alone in the desert after accepting his own death when he encounters two gods in the middle of a fierce battle. After Gorr finally has proof that gods are indeed real, he is full of hatred for all deities for not intervening to help him or his family.
As soon as the battle between the two gods ends, Gorr comes into possession of the weapon of one of the gods, Knull, whose sword, an immensely powerful blade called All-Black the Necrosword, merges with Gorr and gives him immeasurable power.
With the All-Black, Gorr embarks on a multiverse mission to kill every god that ever was or will be. After killing countless deities on countless planes of existence, the god-butcher eventually encounters Thor, who has the task of stopping the deicidal madman.
It’s unclear how much of Gorr’s backstory will make it into the film, but it is clear from the set photos that Gorr’s meeting with Knull in the desert will be part of the narrative. This opens up a fascinating possibility of a crossover network. In the comics, Knull was the creator of the symbiote Venom and its entire planet, mentioned in the live-action Venom movie starring Tom Hardy.
There are already plenty of rumors that Hardy will eventually meet up with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Knull’s presence in the MCU could further strengthen the bond between the MCU and Sony’s Spider Man Movie franchise.
Then there is also the possibility that the role of Knull could be fulfilled from Hela THOR: Ragnarok. The weapon Hela uses is very similar to All-Black the Necrosword, and since the character appears to die at the end of the film, it would make sense for Gorr to come across her weapon and use it for his own purposes.
