Giannis Antetokounmpo had one of the best final series in recent NBA history. While battling his way through a number of tough challengers (including the Nets super team), the Greek freak was absolutely incredible with an average of 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.
As impressive as that is, it gets even more impressive when you find that guy two of these games was sick.
According to a report by Eric Nehm and Sam Amick from The Athletic, Giannis was extremely dehydrated in Games 5 and 6 until he literally went sick after the Games.
“In the midst of all the joy, there was lingering pain. When Antetokounmpo came to his post-game press conference after Game 5, he sat with a grimace and said, “I can’t” before leaving the room and returning more than 30 minutes later.
Meanwhile, sources say he was extremely ill from dehydration and even received fluid IV treatment after his 32-point, nine rebounds, and six assists performance. The remnants of this competitive approach were there after Game 6, when Antetokounmpo – who obviously had serious problems once again – held his stomach and drank bottles of Gatorade while moving between the interview stations. “
For all of the athletes out there, you know how bad a case of dehydration can be. Symptoms can include headache, dizziness, low blood pressure, and more.
The fact that Giannis played so great despite the lack of water is pretty wild and even more proof that Antetokounmpo is in elitist society.
If he’d had enough fluids, who knows what else he could have done.
