Google has announced that it will host its annual I / O Developer Conference from May 18-20. Google’s I / O Developer Event is usually a large in-person conference held annually every month of May this year due to the global pandemic as an online-only show. Last year, Google canceled the conference due to the increased number of Covid-19 cases in the United States.
The official website for I / O 2021 is already online where registrations can be made. The annual I / O developer conference is free and open to all developers. Google says the full schedule will be released later this month.
The Mountainview, California-based software powerhouse typically uses the first day of the conference to host a keynote address for developers and the media. A new version of the Android mobile operating system will be published there and core services such as Gmail and Google Assistant will be updated. Google is also known for releasing new hardware products at its annual I / O. The Smart Display Pixel 3a and Nest Hub Max were announced as early as 2019 during the developer show.
This year, Google will use its I / O 2021 conference to announce Android 12, a major software update for its Android mobile operating system. Android 11 was introduced last year. We can also expect the Pixel 5a to be unveiled at the same developer conference. The mid-range Pixel 5a will replace the Pixel 4a, a $ 399 phone that challenged Apple’s iPhone SE last year.
… And we’re back 🙂 Take part from May 18th to 20th #GoogleIO live, online and free for everyone. https://t.co/763eVjWpYE pic.twitter.com/Sk3tUnLme0

Google’s I / O 2021 isn’t the only developer conference to be held practically this year due to the growing number of Covid-19 cases. Apple will also hold its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in a new virtual format. This year’s WWDC will take place from June 7th to 11th. In the meantime, Microsoft Build 2021 starts on May 25th.
