At a time when stories of guns and gangsters rife with violence and raw language dominate the OTT space, the second season of TVF and SonyLIV web series Gullak aims to “appeal to the family audience, the clean Entertainer is looking for ”. Director Palash Vaswani and writer Durgesh Singh believe that it is the “simplicity” of their show that sets them apart from the dark and bloody content on streaming platforms.
Just like the first season, Gullak 2 shows the story of a middle-class family who live in a small town in northern India. Told from the perspective of an earthen piggy bank (Gullak)Each episode brings to light different anecdotes from the daily life of the Mishra family.
When socialmediagossips.com asked Palash Vaswani about the show, which has more emotion than action, he shared, “Arunabh Kumar (producer and founder, TVF) asked me some tough questions and finding answers helped me get a show like this one too do. The thing is, Arunabh is always trying to find honesty in a story. That’s the core of TVF, and that’s exactly what the team working on Gullak tried to bring to the show. “
He added, “I’ve tried hard to make the show even better without touching the sanctity of season one. What we tried to do in season two is to build a deeper character arc while expanding your universe. “
Palash believes that making a simple narrative is difficult when compared to a twisted plot. But what made his job easier was, “A talented cast that was actually like family and emotions that naturally flowed between them.” So he just had to “capture those emotions beautifully on the screen”.
Gullak 2 is an appealing watch that rarely gives you moments to laugh out loud, but often leaves a pleasant smile on your face. When we asked writer Durgesh Singh if it was a conscious effort on his part, he replied, “Meaningful humor has a longer shelf life, which is why you will still remember the dialogues from Hrishikesh Mukherjee films. For example, I still remember the dialogues from films like Chupke Chupke and Guide. But what happened to humor today is that it got too loud. So we didn’t want to do a slapstick comedy. Our dialogues are so honest and reliable that socialmediagossips have a smile on their faces. “
The four episode series Gullak 2 starring Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Sunita Rajwar Harsh Mayar and Vaibhav Raj Gupta will be streamed on SonyLIV.
