Dwayne Johnson is preparing to join DCEU next year Black Adam Film in which he will play the title Antihero. But Adam isn’t the only superpower the film will introduce. Aldis Hodge was cast as Hawkman, director of the Justice Society of America (JSA), last year. Hodge recently told ScreenRant how he’s preparing to play the winged warrior.
“As for research, I’ve done all kinds of research. I’ve read all the graphic novels from the JSA to the Hawkman series. I really enjoy who and what he is and how he is, and I know what we do plan on how we’re going to show him. It really got me excited. “
Hawkman has a long and complex history in DC Comics. He is one of the longest-lived superheroes who was originally an alien cop named Qatar Hol from the planet Thanagar before traveling to Earth and being reborn in various avatars over the years. It has been announced that Hawkman will appear alongside the JSA’s other heroes. Aldis Hodge had stated in a previous interview how excited he was to finally play a superhero after years of being turned down from such roles.
“When [Dwayne Johnson] said, “Welcome to Black Adam”, it was literally how I imagined winning the lottery. I was really looking forward to being part of a superhero universe. I didn’t care what it was for so long just because I was such a fan. I grew up with graphic novels. I got into the business to make money to buy Batman toys, you know? It was like 13 to 15 years of going to the bat and saying no all the time. So it was really a confirmation of the last years of striving, hectic and preparation. “
Black Adam Dwayne Johnson will play the role of an ancient ruler who used the powers of the magician Shazam to create his empire. But power went to Adam’s head and he became a cruel tyrant. As such, Black Adam was sealed in a tomb for centuries, and the wizard found a new champion, Billy Batson, who became superhero Shazam.
Although Black Adam has traditionally appeared as the villain in Shazam’s comics, it appears that the DCEU is taking a leaf out of Sony’s Poison Game book and give the villain his own independent film depicting him as an antihero. Johnson seems very excited about the upcoming movie, which he has been campaigning for for more than a decade.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam with Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone and Sarah Shahi. The film currently has no release date. Screenrant was the first to share these quotes.
