SpaceX is expected to launch four people on Wednesday for a three-day mission that will be the first to orbit Earth with all private individuals on board.
Here are the highlights from Inspiration4.
On top of the 70 meter high Falcon 9 rocket is the Dragon capsule, in which the crew will be.
This spaceship has already brought 10 astronauts on three separate missions to the International Space Station (ISS).
The eight meter high and four meter wide Dragon capsule was modified for this flight. A huge glass dome was installed to give passengers a 360 degree view of the room.
Launch is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:02 p.m. (Thursday 0002 GMT) from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The starting window is five hours.
The first stage will separate from the spacecraft at an altitude of around 80 kilometers and automatically return to Earth for future use.
In manned flights, the second stage usually separates about ten minutes after take-off.
The Dragon capsule will orbit the earth for three days at an altitude above the ISS.
It then sinks back to earth and lands in huge parachutes off the coast of Florida.
At the helm and funding of the mission, American billionaire Jared Isaacman invited three more people to join him in an original selection process.
Hayley Arceneaux, 29, is a nurse and childhood cancer survivor.
Chris Sembroski, 42, is a U.S. Air Force veteran and now works in the aviation industry.
Geology professor Sian Proctor, 51, was a finalist on the path to becoming a NASA astronaut more than a decade ago.
The crew trained almost six months compared to the years of preparation that professional astronauts need.
They learned to withstand g-force by spinning in a centrifuge, and they experienced weightlessness.
Although the flight would normally be fully automated, the team was eventually trained by SpaceX to take control in an emergency.
Sleep, heart rate, blood and cognitive functions of the crew members will be analyzed during the mission to study the reaction of the recruits in space.
