Ikea and Sonos are starting to develop the following elements that the two organizations have teamed up on. The furniture monster posted an Instagram story today that clearly refers to the “Symfonisk” line and pops the Sonos logo at the end, so there is little uncertainty that new devices are not far away. Two new filings have also recently surfaced with the Federal Communications Commission.
The Verge can only share the subtleties of what’s to come. The most important innovation contained in this documentation is a revised adaptation of the Symfonisk table lamp. It has to sell for roughly a similar cost ($ 179) as the first item, which essentially has the sonos nature of a Sonos Play: 1 crammed into the light body.
However, as per The Verge’s understanding, that is $ 99 Symfonisk Bookshelf speakers – the most sensible way to get started on the Sonos stage – won’t expect any noteworthy updates. All other things being equal, the second item that Ikea and Sonos will announce in 2021 is completely new: a piece of Trenner craftsmanship with an integrated loudspeaker.
Companies like Soundwall have previously supplied artisanal speakers, but it’s safe to accept that Ikea and Sonos are focusing on a value well below that costly item.
The Verge saw an early picture of this item, code-named “Titan”, but knowledge of its capabilities has not yet been learned. In particular, it is unclear whether this is the entire work of art or whether the speaker unit can be moved between different artisanal outdoor shelters. One of the two new FCC registrations from Ikea and Sonos is for a “Radio module. “From a distance, it might look like one of Ikea’s dividers is being printed, just with significantly more tech on the opposite side (and a line of force going down from the base).
The entirety of the previous Symfonisk articles was planned for two reasons. The light consolidates a loudspeaker and a light source; the bookshelf loudspeaker can literally be used as a rack when mounted on a divider. In addition, they should also blend in with the homely stylistic layout. From this point onwards, the merging of craftsmanship and a music speaker seems to be a characteristic movement for the Symfonisk series.
I’ve heard of a fair number of Sonos customers using the Symfonisk bookshelf speakers as the back wall for Sonos’ Arc and Beam soundbars. For this reason they work great, but a pair of sound systems with partition speakers could make for a much slimmer home theater arrangement.
