Infinity war almost had a post-credits scene to tease WandaVision. Back in 2018, Marvel Studio began developing their Disney + shows, including bringing Marvel Cinematic Universe characters back from the big to the small screen. One of the first shows to be talked about was one that would bring Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff back. Jac Schaeffer was brought on board in January 2019 to start writing the series. So the seeds had been planted long before their premiere in 2021.
In a new interview with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, the two MCU actors were able to ask each other questions. Olsen started by asking Bettany if he could ever think of returning to the MCU after Vision was killed in Avengers: Infinity War. He admitted that he only had a “10-15%” chance that Vision would return, which seemed to surprise Olsen. He continued to tell her about one Infinity war Post credits scene that didn’t make the cut. Bettany explains.
“At some point I wanted to be in a label where you opened some kind of body bag drawer and there was the vision … Kevin kind of talked to me and said, ‘I have to be in charge.’ I said, “Ugh!” Because I really wanted this profit-sharing (laughs). “
Paul Bettany first started his MCU career in 2008 as JARVIS Ironmanwhat started it all. Bettany was involved with the MCU from the start and felt that his time was over. The actor told Elizabeth Olsen that he thought he would be fired when Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige invited him to a meeting about what was going to happen WandaVision. After the events of Infinity warBettany was sure that his time at MCU was over.
To keep everyone comfortable, Paul Bettany decided to go to his meeting with Kevin Feige and others to tell them he had enjoyed his time with them. The actor thought it would relieve tension. “So I went in and didn’t want anything to get awkward between us all because it was a great time. So I went in and said, ‘Kevin and Louis [D’Esposito, Marvel Studios co-president], I love you. I totally understand. It was a great run and no hard feelings, “recalls Bettany. He continues.” And Kevin said, “Wait, are you stopping?” And I said, “No, won’t you fire me?” And he said, ‘No, we wanted to show you a TV show.’ “
Infinity war ended on a rather somber note and seeing vision that technically died twice in the film, in a body bag would have been extra dark. Now MCU fans are looking at each other WandaVision for answers how the character seems to come back to life. Most theories revolve around a dream that Wanda has, but that has yet to be confirmed.
