Brazilian homophobic president Jair Bolsonaro has told his country to accept the coronavirus and stop treating it as a “country of queers”.
The far-right leader made the shocking remarks in a speech on Tuesday at the presidential palace in which he addressed a country that has suffered more than 5.7 million infections and 163,000 deaths from the coronavirus.
“I repent of the dead. I really do. But one day we will all die. There’s no point in running away from reality, ”he said. “We have to stop being a country of queers… We have to face it and fight. I hate that weird thing.
The “weird thing” described by Bolsonaro likely relates to taking basic precautions such as wearing a mask, which the self-proclaimed “proud homophobe” disapproved of because he was “too gay”.
His carefree demeanor predictably led him to contract the virus, despite his previous claims that he was just too macho to be disgusted.
Unfortunately, this has also resulted in Brazil having the second highest number of coronavirus deaths in the world. When Bolsonaro was previously confronted with the tragic numbers, he replied: “So what? I’m sorry but what should i do? “”
The president apparently saw the recent suspension of Chinese vaccine trials as justification for his controversial views, as he said Tuesday the news was “another victory for Jair Bolsonaro”.
His unfathomable logic sparked outrage across Brazil with a prominent left leader Tweeter: “Prison isn’t enough for the bastards who make politics with a vaccine.”
But the Brazilians weren’t the only ones offended by Bolsonaro’s bizarre and curvy speech, which was supposed to be about tourism, but ended with a seemingly veiled threat to Joe Biden.
“Recently, a senior presidential candidate said if I did not put out the forest fires in the Amazon, he would impose trade sanctions on Brazil,” he said.
“How do you deal with something like that? Diplomacy alone does not work…. You must have gunpowder. You don’t have to use it. But they should know that you have it.
Bolsonaro, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, with whom he is often compared, is one of the few world leaders who has not recognized Biden’s victory in the US election.
