Jana Gana Mana’s teaser, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu, was released on Tuesday to mark the 72nd Republic Day celebrations in India.
The teaser is opened in the middle of an exchange between a police officer and a suspect. The suspect seems to have been empowered by the ugly realities of our society, and he is philosophical. On the other hand, the policeman seems very idealistic and has an unwavering belief in the country’s criminal justice system. Above all, that one cannot evade allegations of treason. Or that’s what the policeman thinks. “The truth will win,” says the policeman to discourage the suspect, who seems pretty confident that he will go free. The suspect bursts out laughing and reminds the police: “There are mixed feelings about killing Gandhi in this country.” And then obviously he’s going to get beaten up by the cops. It looks like the policeman isn’t that idealistic and naive after all.
The scene serves as a commentary on the growing intolerance in the country.
Queen Fame director Dijo Jose Antony supported Jana Gana Mana based on a script by Sharis Mohammed. The film is financed by Prithviraj’s wife Supriya Menon for her self-produced banner Prithviraj Productions.
Jana Gana Mana brings Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu back together after the duo set fire to the box office with their driver’s license in 2019.
