Everyone’s talking about the Philadelphia 76ers right now, but not for the best of reasons.
Ben Simmons is eager to trade, and it doesn’t look like the franchise can stick to the previous first overall pick. But the real problem is that they cannot trade it for its true worth either.
Even so, some believe this will be for the best as his relationship and fit with Joel Embiid have never been this good.
That’s the case with former Bulls security guard Jay Williams, who recently said the two young stars don’t get along so well:
“Look, I think there’s something between Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, and let me tell you why I think that way,” Williams claimed in an interview. as quoted by Essentially Sports. “A few weeks ago, when Joel Embiid renewed this key, it was the first time I saw Joel Embiid something like this. I even commended him for it because this is the leader you need to be. But that’s not the case with these 2. There have been so many reports that they don’t talk, these guys don’t hang out. And I’m not saying you have to be best friends when you’re with someone to win a championship, but it seems like they were so far away. “
That contradicts a report by Kyle Neubeck of Philly Voice. Embiid still believes in the duo and believes they can win a championship together:
“While it doesn’t look good at the moment, the Sixers continue to insist that their preferred outcome at this point is to bring Simmons back and try to handle this. Embiid publicly chose Simmons and privately insisted that if they just get him back to the gym and the team, they can change that. Rivers doesn’t think this will be a locker room problem and shows an example from his own playing time that these situations can be fixed, “the report said.
At the moment, it doesn’t look like Simmons and the franchise can bury the hatchet and make amends, so we’ll have to wait and see how this story plays out.
