Actress Keira Knightley is no longer interested in doing sex scenes just to target men, she said, calling her decision not to have nudity in part the result of having two children.
But if a director was behind the camera, it might be a different matter, the Pirates of the Caribbean stars said on a podcast.
“I feel very uncomfortable now when I try to portray the male gaze. When I say that, I sometimes go: “Yeah, I totally see where that sex would be really good in this movie, and all you really need is someone who looks hot,” Keira Knightley said in an interview with director Lulu Wang in a Chanel Connects the podcast.
“So you can use someone else because I’m too vain and the body has two kids now and I just don’t want to be naked in front of a group of men,” she added.
The British actress, 35, added a nudity clause to her contract after having children. She said she was more vocal now than she was in her early 20s as a breakout star in films like Pride and Prejudice and Atonement.
“If I were to make a story about this journey of motherhood and body acceptance, I would be sorry, but it would have to be with a filmmaker,” Knightley said.
“I don’t have an absolute ban, but I kind of do it with men. I don’t want it to be those awful sex scenes where you are all lubricated and all grunt. I don’t care, ”she added.
Keira Knightley gave birth to her second child in 2019 with musician James Righton.
