Production from 2017 Justice League has been under a cloud for years. It got even hotter last year after Ray Fisher, who plays cyborg in the film, made allegations of “abuse” against Joss Whedon, who directed the feature after Zack Snyder was forced to resign. With Zack Snyder’s Justice League, interest in the story continues.
Now some former Whedon employees have come forward to tell their own stories of abuse of his hands. Harry Lennixwho plays the role of General Swanwick in the upcoming “Snyder Cut” of Justice Leagueand who has worked with Whedon in the past, weighed the controversy in a recent interview.
“It wasn’t there during the time in question. I’m sorry anyone had to find out what was being described. Obviously there is one side of the story that we heard. I don’t know Joss made it. As you point out, I worked pretty closely with Joss there for a couple of years. I haven’t seen this behavior and at the same time my heart as an actor goes to anyone who has endured this kind of treatment. We are often treated as second class citizens. But I have not seen it and i would be curious what [Joss’s] Answer to that was. “
Among the allegations Joss Whedon is facing is charges of dismissing Charisma Carpenter Buffy the Vampire Slayer After she got pregnant, he bragged about making women writers cry on the sets of Fireflythat he couldn’t be alone on set with Michelle Trachtenberg Buffyand was openly derogatory to Zack Snyder’s work on Justice League.
Whedon’s many fans from the various shows and films he has created over the years have been in turmoil since Carpenter, Trachtenberg and Sarah Michelle Gellar, among others, confirmed the news of his behavior. Whedon has already been forced out of the upcoming show The Nevers after WarnerMedia conducted an investigation into his behavior on the set at the request of Ray Fisher. Regarding Lennix, he stated his hope that the whole matter would end with grace and forgiveness.
“I just hope everyone can get on with their lives, to be honest. As a former seminarian and as someone who has made mistakes, I’ve been on both sides of that equation. Directors are sometimes insensitive to the needs or feelings of actors and sometimes actors are needy and sometimes over-sensitive. I know I can. So I hope whatever happened that socialmediagossips can move on and – aside from one unforgivable cause – socialmediagossips can not only forgive each other, but forgive yourself. “
