The Los Angeles Lakers certainly have a lot of talent, no one claims otherwise. With three of the best players in the world in the squad, the Purple and Gold are ready for a big season.
Still, there are doubts about their abilities, mostly due to their age.
With much of their core being over 30 years old, the Lakers have built a more unorthodox group of veterans and older players, which raises many questions about whether or not they can stay healthy for the duration of the season.
Former NBA coach George Karl made fun of the team and posted this message on Twitter:
This team is heading straight for the 2012-2013 NBA Championship !!
It has been over a week since the tweet, but former Lakers champion Metta Sandiford-Artest protested the narrative in a rather hilarious post that probably relates to Karl:
Metta isn’t the only one standing up for this Lakers roster. Not so long ago, Shaquille O’Neal gave his opinion on the matter:
“Yeah, they definitely stacked their team.” Shaq said complex. “They are older but until you can show me a young team that dominates the league, I am not very worried about their age.”
Yes, the Lakers are older. You have guys who are past their prime and even some younger ones with a long history of injury. That fact is sure to pose some challenges for her throughout the season.
Still, Purple and Gold have enough talent to overcome any obstacle. Between LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook, they have the firepower to compete against anyone in the league.
It remains to be seen what the team will achieve in the future. For now, all we can do is sit back and wait and see how it all turns out.
