2021 is right around the corner and the former First Lady is looking back at the year that is just about to end! Check out what Michelle Obama had to say!

A lot has happened in 2020 and very little has been good but one step forward, although born from more tragedy, was the Black Lives Matter movement becoming bigger than ever!

Michelle took to her own platform earlier today to touch upon that and more as she recapped the very challenging year that is now at its end.

Alongside a video from CNN Heroes, she wrote: ‘Black Lives Matter. For me, the holidays always have been a chance to slow down and reflect. We have endured so much this past year, from the devastation of the pandemic to all the ups and downs of a hard won election. But what has stayed with me most is a passionate message of justice and empathy that’s defined the Black Lives Matter protests all around the world.’

She then wrote about Patrick Hutchinson, as an example, saying that his humanity ‘is on full display in this clip, as he carries another man – a stranger – to safety.’

‘I want to highlight this story because it is hard to see so many people distort the righteousness of these protests. They have been sowing seeds of division, misrepresenting all of those crying out for justice as troublemakers or as criminals. The truth’s that the millions around the world who showed up with their signs were marching with the same compassion Mr. Hutchinson shows here. They are folks who face discrimination daily because of the color of their skin. And they are just asking to be shown the same humanity our consciences demand we show anybody else in need.’

Michelle shared her hopes that people will find it inside their hearts to understand and empathize with that cry for help.
