Microsoft doesn’t seem happy that it’s possible to revive Lola Flores through deepfakes. The company has applied for a patent to be created Chatbots that you can use to talk to the deceased.
Therefore uses content that consists of “images, voice recordings”, Social media posts and emails “to create this type of avatar for chatting.

The idea it seems a little macabre and more typical of some kind of dystopia, and indeed that was the central theme of the episode (1st of the second season of Black Mirror) entitled “Be Right Back”.
In an approximation of what was raised there, Microsoft would use this data of the deceased with an artificial intelligence system that use of this content would attempt to reproduce the speech of the deceased.
In Microsoft even mention them the ability to create 2D or 3D models from images and videos of these people. The patent certainly has a controversial element, but it would also make it possible to recreate historical characters or simply fictional characters.
As explained in the patent, “the person of a current or past entity (or a version of it) such as a friend, relative, acquaintance, celebrity, a historical character, a fictional character, or a random entity“.
Of course, as they point out in Windows Central, Microsoft has already seen a major setback in the chatbot arena. His experience with Tay, the bot for sharing messages on Twitter, ended up spreading racist messages and that was one of the highlights of that chatbot fever we experienced a few years ago.
