Pankaj Tripathi’s work is considered both learning material for actors and fodder for internet memes. In a year in which big Bollywood stars did not appear and new talent rose up, Tripathi delivered consistently superior performances – from Gunjan Saxena to the second season of Mirzapur to the youngest Ludo.
The impact his work had on the masses was so great that the day he unveiled the Criminal Justice Trailer: Behind Closed Doors, Tripathi’s character from the series – Madhav Mishra – was trending on Twitter. “Nobody cares. People forget about these trends when the day is over. So I don’t take it seriously, ”he told indianexpress.com.
Pankaj Tripathi finds solace in distance. For an actor whose grand rise to fame has taken place in recent years, Tripathi understands anonymity better than anyone.
“I know this is all a myth. People only knew me a few years ago and won’t know me after a few years. In this current stage of fame, I already know what it feels like to be unknown, ”he says. This is also why the actor believes that his simplicity will never be weighed down by his rising fame.
When asked if he fears being corrupted by the glamor of show business, the actor says, “It will never be corrupted. My software is very strong and I have my antivirus with me. (Laughs) I see birds flying back to their nests outside my window every evening. So I know everyone has to return home every night, regardless of their fame or fame. I am a grounded person connected to nature. I travel to villages and small towns. No, it won’t damage it because if your roots are firmly in the ground the tree will survive both the good times and the bad. “
It’s the innate ordinariness that drew Pankaj Tripathi to lawyer Madhav Mishra in Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors, which is currently streamed on Disney Plus Hotstar. The actor continues the popular character from the first season, which premiered in 2019.
“Madhav Mishra resides pretty much inside me. I like how powerless he is. Nobody gives it meaning. I think that’s nice. I like its ordinaryness. And towards the end of the first season, it becomes extraordinary. And so is life. We are all normal people who live in search of something extraordinary, ”says the actor.
Pankaj Tripathi’s ability to relate his characters is one of his greatest strengths as an actor, often positioning his performance greater than the movie or show he is part of. However, the actor doesn’t want to go into any further detail as he believes that great characters only come from good stories.
He says, “I haven’t made these characters bigger, nor can I make them smaller. So why bother about something that is out of your control? I just sincerely do my job on set and then it’s out of my hands. But I have a feeling that it’s not the character, but the story that is great. And that’s how it should be. In a good story, people may connect more to some characters. “
