The OnePlus 9 series is expected to include three phones this year: the OnePlus 9 Pro, a regular OnePlus 9, and a cheaper option previously known as the OnePlus 9e or OnePlus 9 Lite. Some leaks even claimed it would be called the OnePlus 9 SE, a version of the Apple iPhone SE. According to tipster Evan Blass, however, the name could be OnePlus 9R.
Pale posted a picture of a source code Ads of OnePlus 9R on the name, indicating the brand may consider that name. While Blass didn’t exactly specify where he found the code, it’s interesting to see OnePlus pick an entirely new nickname for the upcoming phone. Last year, the OnePlus Nord was the brand’s mid-range option, but it looks like the OnePlus 9R could be the name for 2021.
OnePlus 9R leaks, expected specs
The OnePlus 9 series is expected to hit the market in March, although the company may not launch all three variants at the same time. All three phones will of course find their way to India and will likely be exclusive to Amazon. OnePlus also sells its devices through its own Indian website.
According to leaks, the OnePlus 9R or OnePlus 9 Lite will, as already mentioned, have a large 6.5-inch display with FHD + resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Last year’s OnePlus Nord also had a display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The phone is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 processor rather than a 700 series processor. This is also a 5G capable chipset. The maximum offered RAM is 8 GB together with 128 GB of storage.
A dual camera on the back is also expected for the OnePlus 9R. According to a previous leak from TechMania, the phone will have a 64-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, as well as a 5,000 mAh battery.
As for the OnePlus 9 Pro, the phone is expected to have a refresh rate of 120Hz, a 6.7-inch display, and a Snapdragon 888 processor. The camera will be a 48-megapixel main camera and a 64-megapixel ultra-wide camera, as well as a telephoto lens.
