Actress Parineeti Chopra will team up with director Ribhu Dasgupta of The Girl on The Train in an action thriller in which she will play the role of an undercover agent. The as yet unnamed film revolves around a covert rescue operation by Indian agents, led by Chopra’s protagonist.
“It’s not an Indian-Pakistani setting. The film has Parineeti as an undercover agent, she’s running the operation. The film is also about her personal journey and her revenge, “a source close to the film crew told PTI.
According to the insider, the cast of the film includes Rajit Kapur, Kay Kay Menon, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Hardy Sandhu, among others.
The project, due to hit the ground in March, will be produced by Reliance Entertainment.
The makers are about to explore locations and get permission to shoot amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Chopra, 32, and Dasgupta, best known for directing the Te3n and Netflix series Bard of Blood, are currently awaiting the release of their 2016 Hindi remake of the Hollywood blockbuster The Girl on The Train.
The original American film, starring Emily Blunt, is based on Paula Hawkins’ 2015 bestselling novel of the same name.
Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari and Avinash Tiwary also play the Hindi version in Great Britain.
The girl on the train was due to hit cinemas across the country on May 8 this year, but release was delayed in the wake of the pandemic.
