Do you remember PlayDate? But yes, this little console with a crank which was announced in May 2019. After two pretty quiet years, the latter returns to the front of the stage to reveal a lot of information to us.
The console is now expected at the end of the year at the price of 179 US dollars with 24 games and a nice new accessory! Pre-orders are expected to start next month. Here is a small summary of the latest information!
The release date of this new console planned for 2020 will logically be postponed to 2021 due to the plant closings in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic. PlayDate is now expected by the end of the year and pre-orders will start in July. Panic, the console builder, reassures players. No inventory is expected and everyone will be notified a week before pre-orders start. The sooner you pre-order your console, the sooner you will receive it.
In terms of price, the PlayDate will start at a price of 179 US dollars (rather than 149 US dollars as originally planned). This increase is due to a storage capacity from 2 to 4 GB, while the console offer for the first season increases from 12 to 24 games.

Playdate stereo dock
While the last presentation, Panic presented the Playdate Stereo Dock. This is a new accessory that the console can be attached to. Not a price at the moment, but this accessory charges the console and can play the role of a bluetooth speaker.

For those who didn’t know the PlayDate, it’s a portable console measuring 74 x 76 x 9 mm and has a (very) small screen of 2.7 inches by 400 x 240 pixels. It offers a monochrome screen without backlighting, with a directional pad and only two game buttons (B and A). There’s also a pause button, a jack … and a crank that is used in some games!
