The hashtag #ReleaseTheAyerCut is back in trend as DC fans call for Warner Bros. again for David Ayer to finish his director’s cut Suicide squad. When the big budget film hit theaters in 2016, it received mixed reviews. In the years since then, Ayer has expressed his frustration with the changes imposed by the studio, which drastically changed his original vision for the film.
Last month Warner Bros. finally released the legendary Snyder Cut, the famous Extended Cut Justice League Cut known as Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The release was the result of years of fan campaigns for the studio for “Release the Snyder Cut”. With the fan campaign ultimately being a success, DC fans have been pushing for other things they want from Warner Bros., and the “Release the Ayer Cut” campaign is quickly proving to be just as popular.
“”David Ayer deserves its cut from Suicide squad to be seen, “writes a DC fan.” It would be a great thing for @hbomax to accept this. It is superior to the theater and would be a great success for their service. And let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to see Leto anymore? “
Another fan writes: “David Ayer’s suicide command would have #Steppenwolf in it. It would have a lot more of Jared Leto’s Joker, which was incredibly well received in the Snyder cut. It’s an invisible movie, and it would be easy to complete. # ReleaseTheAyerCut. “
“#ReleaseTheAyerCut because Harley’s story arc has been ‘gutted’ from @DavidAyerMovies’ original plans and we deserve to see what was meant for her!” tweeted a Margot Robbie fan.
“Do you want to see the REAL Joker !!!” writes another fan. This refers to the immense amount of footage that was cut from the theatrical release of Jared Leto’s Joker, a move that was particularly criticized after Leto impressed the audience with his new scene Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
“To be honest, the Ayer Cut is going to be fantastic. The Comic-Con trailer proves it,” says someone else. “After the huge success of ZSJL and the fact that it is easy to quit, why on earth would you not release it? !!!!”
Another fan includes a quote straight from Ayer to explain why Warner Bros. just needs to let the filmmaker finish his cut. The quote goes: “My cut would be easy to complete. It would be incredibly cathartic for me. It’s exhausting kicking your ass for a movie that gets that.” Edward with the scissor hands Treatment.”
Despite the success of Zack Snyder’s Justice LeagueIt has been reported that Warner Bros. currently has no plans to develop the Ayer Cut of Suicide squad. Maybe that could change after the release of The suicide squadJames Gunn picks up the story that brings back some of the same characters. This film is due out this summer, and perhaps the brass section at Warner Bros. is hoping to avoid confusion.
Either way, fans will likely continue to promote the studio for #ReleaseTheAyerCut until Warner Bros. finally agrees and gives the Ayer Cut the green light. Until then, your best chance is to join the social media campaign with the specific hashtag. You can check out what other fans have to say about the movement on Twitter.
