The WalkingCat Twitter account, known for leaks of information about Microsoft and Samsung, published two videos in which augmented reality glasses with the signature Samsung are presented. It no longer needed to arouse the curiosity of the technology world because we didn’t know until then that such a project was in the plans of the Korean giant.
Two delicious videos
Of the two videos, however, one seems to be much more accessible in the short term than the other. It shows a man with thick glasses called Samsung Glasses Lite, with which he can use the hologram on a computer screen. Thanks to a Galaxy Watch, we can see it go from display mode to game mode, and even connect the glasses to a DJI drone to observe the scenery in first person. The Samsung Glasses Lite not only enables the use of augmented reality, but can also be used as simple sunglasses.

In a second, much more conceptual video, reminiscent of Microsoft’s HoloLens advertisement, Samsung demonstrates its vision of “Next Wearable Computing”. In the latter case, a user wears Samsung glasses but can make much better use of them, for example by seeing how digital objects are displayed in 3D in the real world. In addition, the glasses allow him to explore a room as if he were actually inside, or to set up a video call with people who appear to be by his side.

Augmented Reality attracts technology giants
No additional information has been released by WalkingCat or Samsung at this time. If the videos had any element of surprise, Samsung’s arrival in the augmented reality glasses market doesn’t seem all that surprising in the end. This technology is indeed considered one of the cornerstones of tomorrow’s world as big names in the industry develop their own models.
This is especially true for Facebook and its Orion project, but also for Apple. In the summer of 2020, the apple brand also started producing the lenses that are attached to their Apple Glass. It therefore seems that Samsung is aiming to join the party to compete with the American giants in a sector that should be very productive in the future.
