Samsung was the first smartphone manufacturer to develop a commercially available foldable smartphone in 2019. Now, three pivoting devices later, the brand has a special Z-range especially for devices that fold in half. However, one of the next in Samsung’s Z-series devices can be expected to be a three-part folding tablet.
According to a new report by Gizmochina, Samsung could be working on a new folding device, which is expected to be a three-part folding tray. This device could have not one but two hinges to support the triple-fold mechanism.
However, Samsung isn’t the first brand to venture into the triple design. Tech brand TCL has already made a prototype for the same brand, and other brands are also using the new design. However, Samsung’s implementation could be the first of its kind that users can actually buy.
The report adds that the tablet could be launched in the first quarter of 2022 and could be called the Galaxy Z Fold Tab. We could probably see more official details about the product shared during the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 launch, which is expected to happen in August.
In addition to the tri-fold display, the Galaxy Z Fold Tab will also offer support for a hybrid S-Pen, which is expected to hit the market with the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 in a few months. The new pen is expected to offer more functionality than Samsung’s older implementations. However, further details are currently not available.
According to the report, the new tablet should also have a better UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass). The thicker implementation is also being introduced in the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Not many more details are available on the device as of now, but more leaks are expected to show up closer to the start.
