The Saw franchise isn’t finished yet. Not in the long run. The Jigsaw Killer will return as soon as it is found to be the case Saw 10 is already in active development at Twisted Pictures. This is especially noteworthy as the newest entry in the series, Spiralhasn’t even been published yet. However, the film is slated to hit theaters next month. This signals that the studio is not only convinced of the upcoming film, but that they can keep this train on the tracks beyond the ninth entry.
News from Saw 10 first appeared in a current production list. It has since been confirmed by several reports. Twisted Pictures is listed, as is Atomic Monster, the production company founded by James Wan. The original saw was staged by Wan, so it makes sense to involve his company. Especially since Wan has been recognized as the producer for all films so far. As did co-creator James Whannell who wrote the original, which was released in 2004. Lionsgate distributed all of the previous entries in the series. Obviously they too would be involved.
Details are currently scarce. Zeke is unknowingly embroiled in a deepening puzzle and ends up in the center of the murderer’s pathological game. Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger wrote the script.
Few franchises have ever made ten entries. If the next sequel moves forward, Saw will get into rare air. The Fast and the Furious, Hellraiser, Puppeteer, Friday the 13th, Star Trek and James Bond are some of the others that have had at least ten entries over the years.
Saw arrived in 2004 and became a huge hit, grossing more than $ 100 million worldwide on a comparatively small production budget.
