RRR was originally scheduled to be released on July 30, 2020. However, the unforeseen delays, including those caused by injuries to Jr NTR and Ram Charan during production, forced the filmmakers to postpone the release date. And then the coronavirus outbreak and subsequent lockdown disrupted production again.
Finally, filming resumed last October. And SS Rajamouli is currently shooting the climax-action portion of the film.
RRR is set against the backdrop of Northern India in the 1920s under the colonial rule of Great Britain. It is a fictional representation of the Telugu tribal leaders, Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by Jr NTR). Rajamouli and his father KV Vijayendra Prasad reinterpreted the formative years of these leaders, taking advantage of the fact that there is no record of what happened in their lives when they were away from their homeland.
