The one and only James Earl Jones has just turned 90 and fans are celebrating the career of the award-winning actor and Hollywood icon. With his instantly recognizable voice and truly incredible performances, Jone is widely recognized as one of the greatest actors in American history. Another fan recognizes Jones’ debut film role and posts a clip from the film and tweets. “James Earl Jones #BOTD portrays Lieutenant Lothar Zogg in Stanley Kubricks Dr. Strangelove (1964). The film is a brilliant satire of the MAD doctrine and shows a US Air Force general ordering a nuclear first strike against the Soviet Union, with Zogg piloting one of the B-52s on the range. “

With a booming voice like no other, Jones is easily recognized for his speaking roles. With David Prowse in costume, Jones delivered the voice of the legendary villain Darth Vader in the original war of stars George Lucas’ film trilogy. It’s a role he would repeat in later sections of the franchise, including 2019 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Jones is also known for voicing Mufasa in the Disney animated classic The Lion Kingand because it was too hard to imagine anyone else pronouncing the character, he returned as Mufasa in the 2019 remake.
Jones has also starred in various acclaimed roles in live action films. For playing Jack Jefferson in The great white hopehe was nominated for an Oscar for best actor. He is also known for his appearances in films such as Malcolm X., The Bushido blade, Conan the barbarian, Soul man, Field of dreams, and The hunt for Red October. Jones also played King Jaffe Joffer in the Eddie Murphy comedy Come to America, a role he’ll repeat in this year’s sequel Coming 2 America. This film will be released on Amazon Prime Video on March 5th.
