Last week Microsoft announced the signing of a major contract to supply the US military with Hololens augmented reality headsets. More and more soldiers around the world are encouraged to work with technology during the training phases in combat situations. For example, the French company Parrot supplies its drones to the US Army.
Today we are going to discuss the opposite situation, since it is an American company that supplies equipment to the French army. As part of an applied research exercise, students at Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan Joint Military School were able to count on support from Boston Dynamics robot dogs. Ouest France published a video of this training on Twitter, in which robots (not only developed by Boston Dynamics) served as scouts and shields.

During these training maneuvers, the students of Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan had the opportunity to deal with the Barakuda, the Nerva, the Optio 20, the Ultro and of course the Boston Dynamics Spot. This company, which has been very successful on social networks by showcasing its robots in short videos, is certainly one of the most promising in the robotics sector.

In late 2020, Hyundai bought Boston Dynamics for nearly $ 1 billion. Boston Dynamics’ activities are now more diverse as more and more fields are used in its robots. If we talk about the military today, Boston Dynamics could also send its spots to Mars with NASA in the near future. In Massachusetts, the police have already been asked to use the spots during sensitive operations.
