In the meantime, you may have to get by with GTA 5 online or the latest mods
I’m sure the vast majority of the gaming community was expecting an update Grand Theft Auto 6 coming out this year. After all, it’s been almost eight years since the last GTA came out. Unfortunately, this year seems to be another dry spell for all of us.
The game is in very good development according to a series of tweets from notorious Rockstar Games insider Yan2295, but we shouldn’t expect it to be out anytime soon. This contradicts all of the claims made over the past year, in which the leaker stated that the game was making good progress in development.
Last year, Jason Schreier, who was with Kotaku at the time but currently with Bloomberg, reported that the game is in early development and went on to explain in another tweet that it was years away.
Claims by Yan2295
Yan2295 apparently earned a rep for being so good at losing game information that publisher 2K Games asked him to stop. Last year, he disagreed with Schreier’s reports, saying the game was much more advanced in development. But now he is pulling back on all of these claims.
Unfortunately, we have not received any further information from Yan2295. If we stick to the Rock Star Games success story, it took them five years to develop GTA 5. Then they worked on it Red Dead Redemption 2 Assuming they started prep work for GTA 6 right after that, we can’t hope the game lands anytime before 2023.
Until then, the players have to be content with that Grand Theft Auto Online or if you want to try something new, go with me Yakuza: Like a dragon.
