The highly anticipated second season of the runaway Netflix series Bridgerton is in production.
According to People magazine, the new chapter’s main characters – Jonathan Bailey, who repeats his role as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, and Simone Ashley – were spotted at Ascot Racecourse on April 30th.
New to the show, Ashley plays Anthony’s on-screen love interest – Kate Sharma.
Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton, Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton, Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton, Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton and Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury were also part of the scene.
Based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, the show takes place in the competitive world of London’s high society Regency-era tone during the season when debutants are presented in court.
The first season, which premiered in December, revolves around the romance and marriage between eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Rege Jean-Page).
Last month it was announced that Page, who became a global heartbreaker after the success of Bridgerton, will not be returning for the upcoming season.
The series also includes Nicola Coughlan, Ruby Barker, Golda Rosheuvel, Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt, and Bessie Carter.
In addition to Ashley, Charithra Chandran, Shelley Conn, Calam Lynch and Rupert Young are also part of the second season.
Chris Van Dusen is the showrunner for Bridgerton, who is produced by media mogul Shonda Rhimes, who is known for hit shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal.
