Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched its new Pay Per View model with the Vi Movies and TV App. The application, formerly known as Vodafone Play, Idea Movies & TV, now offers premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services with content from Hungama Digital Media Entertainment.
With the new model, Vi users can pay for premium films which they can then watch in the language of their choice. However, the new model only allows users to rent the latest premium movies. One-time purchases are currently not available.
Vi films and TV app: What’s new
With the Vi Film and TV app, Vi customers can access over 380 film titles, including the latest blockbusters like Joker, Birds of Prey, SCOOB, Aquaman and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, which will be available in four languages. These include English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The app’s pay-per-view model will be an extension of the brand’s current entertainment offering. While users can currently watch content at no additional cost as per their top-up or post-paid plans, the new pay-per-view launch allows users to pay for the content they want to watch in a language of their choice.
How much do films cost?
Films are loaned at Rs 60 while some recent titles such as Tenet and SCOOB are loaned at Rs 120. However, users can only rent one movie and watch it within 48 hours.
Aside from the paid movies, the app will continue to stream live TV shows and other original content. This gives users access to over 9,500 films in 13 different languages and over 300 live TV channels as well as a range of original web series and international TV shows of all genres.
