It’s not uncommon for current NBA players to be compared to legends of the game. It’s also no secret that most players are working on their craft while trying to mimic their game and incorporate some of their moves into their repertoire.
Luka Doncic, for example, drew comparisons with Toni Tukoc even before he even arrived in the NBA, a similarity that has become clearer over the years and continues to be successful in the league.
In fact, even Kukoc thinks the comparisons are fair, seeing a young version of himself when he looks at Doncic:
“That’s how I played. When I played in Europe, I played EXACTLY like that. When I got to the Bulls, that position was obviously more or less reserved for Scottie,” Kukoc told Yahoo! Sports’ Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson.
Kukoc doesn’t get enough recognition and recognition, but he was one of the most unique and talented players in league history.
Doncic, on the other hand, has already become one of the faces of the game and a worldwide sensation, a talent of the generation poised to become one of the greatest players of all time.
But just like with Kukoc, some analysts and fans doubted his ability to dominate in the NBA just because he was a European player.
Perhaps the best part about it is realizing how much the game tends to come full circle. Even though basketball has come a long way and changed a lot, some skills just never get old.
Toni Kukoc has just been inducted into the Hall of Fame and if he continues like this, it is only a matter of time before Luka Doncic joins him.
