Endemol Shine India, Cine1 Studios and 7 Screens announced on Friday that they have acquired the rights to adapt the Tamil film master in Hindi.
The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, starring Vijay Thalapathy and Vijay Sethupathi, was released in Tamil on Thursday. The Hindi-dubbed version of the film hit screens on Friday.
Produced and distributed by 7 screens, the master revolves around a professor (Thalapathy) trying to reform a youth school system where he collides with a gangster (Sethupathy).
Abhishek Rege, CEO of Endemol Shine India, said that the master is infused with masterful performances and powerful narratives that appeal to audiences across the country.
He said the film will also be remembered as a turning point in the pandemic.
Master is the first major film from the Tamil industry to be released in the pandemic and received an overwhelming response from audiences.
“We are incredibly proud to have acquired the rights to such a hot property. We look forward to recreating the magic of this film to captivate Hindi audiences, ”Rege said in a statement.
Murad Khetani of Cine1 Studios said his company aims to support and deliver content-driven cinema.
“We are proud to present the film to audiences in Hindi,” said Khetani.
The makers will soon start casting for the Hindi remake.
