WandaVision is the hottest and most talked about show right now. It also single-handedly revived the Marvel Cinematic Universe for many. The latest episode, titled “Previous On”, was perhaps the best episode yet. It took viewers on an emotional, heartbreaking journey of grief and loss and also explained the origins of Westview.
However, the episode also contained a continuity error.
‘Before’, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) took Wanda on a journey through time from childhood. Basically, Agatha wanted to know how Wanda created Westview. The journey continued until Wanda’s time at the Avengers headquarters, captured in Captain America: Civil War. We see Vision walking through a wall to enter Wanda’s room. He went on to comfort Wanda, who is mourning her brother Pietro Maximoff, and pronounced the show’s best line so far: “What is grief if not love that endures.”
According to Thedirect.com, Wanda’s rooms in WandaVision and the one in Captain America: Civil War look significantly different, although the set designers are doing their best to mimic that style. While the arrangement of things is similar, things themselves have changed.
It is forgivable. MCU is a huge movie universe, the greatest of all time, with thousands of characters and a huge timeline, and we’ve seen several continuities and other flaws over the years. Although Kevin Fiege oversees everything, different creatives take care of different franchise companies. And it is often not possible for everything to be seamless.
And the mentioned continuity error in WandaVision does not help to interrupt the immersion. No one except those who pay attention to such things and question every single detail will notice these types of mistakes. WandaVision streams on Disney + Hostar Premium.
