Nobody could have expected the first long-form MCU series, WandaVisionwould be a reinterpretation of Wanda Maximoff alias Scarlet Witch and Vision as suburban housewives modeled on old-fashioned sitcoms with laugh tracks and crazy neighbors. Still, there was evidence from the start that the current state of the show is a mere illusion and that something much darker is emerging beneath the surface. In a new interview, leading actress Elizabeth Olsen promised viewers that she would soon find out why the show began with the premise of “sitcom”.
“”[Wanda and Vision] just trying to adapt. They try not to find out from their neighbors that they are overpowering beings. The reason it’s a sitcom shows up later on on the show. With Kevin [Feige] told me it didn’t feel that bizarre. It was a great way to start our story. “
Superhero content is perhaps the most rigid format of any genre. You have a super-powered hero who wants to use those powers to do good, and you have a villain with powers who want to use them to do bad. The two clash in an epic battle for eternity, and the hero finally emerges victorious. According to Olsen, that’s not the case in WandaVision.
“Someone said to me if you watch one of those hero films you know when the bad guy is going to show up and you also have an idea of who the bad guy is. With our show, you don’t know what the bad guy is. Or if there is at all. Wanda tries to protect everything in her bladder, protect what she and vision have and that experience. I think everything she does is in response to keeping things together. “
So far, WandaVision was deeply concerned about the private desires of Scarlet Witch and Vision. The former is an orphan who has spent her life running away from those who want to use their powers for their own ends. The latter is an android that is struggling to understand how humanity works. The two came together to create one of the strangest romances in all of fiction, and WandaVision Explore this romance through every sitcom imaginable.
But at the end of the day Wanda will be forced to accept that the blissful reality she created for herself and vision is just an illusion. When that happens, Elizabeth Olsen indicated that the gloves will be removed and the real action will begin.
“We’re still doing justice to what Marvel does. We’re just telling the story in a completely different way. It’s a very emotional, feminine story and a story they haven’t told any of our characters.”
