Joel Kinnaman thinks he knows why that was in 2014 RoboCop Remake wasn’t a huge success. Restarting and recreating movies is commonplace in the entertainment industry these days. However, the results are often subjected to special scrutiny as the originals are often preferred. When remakes or reboots are done, they don’t always have the same spark that made the originals so special, which definitely was the case with the originals RoboCop Remake that featured Kinnaman.
2014 RoboCop was Joel Kinnaman’s first major role. He says, “I’ve had to suppress all of my instincts for everything throughout the course of this movie. I wonder, ‘Why am I wearing a black suit? It doesn’t make any sense.'” But that was just part of the problem, the fans of the franchise when the film hit theaters. Thinking about it, Kinnaman has a few more reasons why the film wasn’t as successful as it could have been. He explains.
“What I think the whole movie didn’t take into account is what the fans loved [the original [RoboCop]. And one has to pay homage to that. And I think the producers, the filmmakers, and I didn’t really understand how to do it right. I think it’s a really solid movie, it just didn’t go with it RoboCop Concept.”
When you press for the movie Joel Kinnaman found himself in trouble with the studio. “The first interview I did for RoboCop… was right after my occupation ” The suicide squad Star says. “I have the first questions for RoboCopand the question was, “So, will it be R-rated?” And I said, ‘Of course it’ll be R-rated! Only an idiot would do it RoboCop a PG-13 film. ‘Cut to the next morning – 47 missed calls that woke me up with. “When the film opened in theaters, it received a PG-13 rating.
Reviews were more mixed than that RoboCop The remake opened in theaters, although there are many critics who praised Joel Kinnaman’s performances along with Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, and Jackie Earle Haley. The film was directed by José Padilha and written by Joshua Zetumer, Nick Schenk, Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner. It turned out that many of Kinnaman’s critics shared the same opinion. One review said, “There is a feeling that Padilha, or perhaps his company leaders, don’t really understand what made the original so special.”
Joel Kinnaman repeats his role as Rick Flag in James Gunn’s new film The suicide squad. In a recent interview, the actor noted that Gunn’s vision is more of a restart than a direct sequel to David Ayers Suicide squadwhich opened in cinemas in 2016.
