Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar said Tuesday he would make changes to his political web series Tandav as the Information and Broadcasting Ministry raised concerns about some parts of the show.
Zafar’s testimony came a day later he issued an “unconditional apology” on behalf of the Tandav team for hurting the feelings of part of the audience. The Amazon Prime video show, headed by Saif Ali Khan, has been criticized by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders and others for allegedly mocking Hindu gods and hurting the sentiments of Hindus. The call to boycott Tandav has also been loud on Twitter since the show was released on Jan. 15.

Zafar’s most recent statement on Twitter said that the creators decided to make changes in the controversial sections of the series.
“We have the greatest respect for the feelings of the socialmediagossips in our country. We did not intend to hurt or offend the feelings of any individual, caste, community, race, religion or religious belief, or to insult or outrage any living, dead or dead institution, political party or person. The cast and crew at Tandav have decided to make changes to the web series to address related concerns. We thank the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for guidance and assistance on this matter. We apologize again if the series accidentally hurt the feelings of others, ”the statement said.
Tandav shows among others Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Kumud Mishra, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Gauahar Khan, Kritika Kamra and Anup Soni in decisive parts.
